After the installation of PE pipes, local damage may occur due to certain factors. Replacing PE pipes is not only time-consuming and laborious, but also wastes construction costs. Is there any way to remedy the damaged pipes? Today, we will briefly introduce it to you:
When there are local or small cracks or holes within 20mm on the outer wall of the PE pipeline, the water in the pipeline can be drained first, and the damaged area can be cleaned with cotton yarn. Then, the base surface can be brushed with cyclohexanone and coated with a water-resistant plastic adhesive. Remove boards of similar shape and size from the corresponding parts of the pipeline that have never been used, bond them together, wrap them with geotextile, and fix them. After curing for 24 hours, the soil can be returned.
When the damaged part of the outer wall of the PE pipe shows a broken pipe wall or holes within 100mm in length, use a scraper to completely remove the broken pipe wall or holes.Clean the area within 50mm around the removed part with cyclohexanone and brush it with a water-resistant plastic adhesive; Then remove an arc-shaped plate from the corresponding part of the same pipe with a damage area twice that of the damaged area, apply adhesive to the inner wall and fasten it to the damaged part, and fix it with lead wire.If the outer wall of the pipe is helpful, remove and scrape off the ripples within 50mm around the damaged area, and use the same method as above to remedy it.When the damage exceeds 1/12 of the pipe circumference, the damaged section or entire pipe should be replaced and re laid.
Based on years of construction experience,PE pipe manufacturers have summarized two repair methods for PE pipes. The first prerequisite we need to clarify is that the damage must be within the repairable range. If the damaged area is large, then repairing it will be meaningless and will only be more troublesome,so the entire pipeline needs to be replaced.Everyone can choose the appropriate repair method based on the damage of their PE pipe.
